When 3rd phase begins on training week 8, the platoon's guidon changes to red with yellow numbers, a mark of how close they are to becoming Marines. Much of the hard work is done. Now it's testing, inspections, and prepping for the Crucible... the momentum is palpable as the recruit nears the finish line.
